Tele Scot - The Company

Whilst being a relatively new company, Television Scotland has roots that stretch back for over a decade.The company was started by Director Niall Smyth who has an elaborate career that has covered many aspects of the electrical and indeed lighting genres. With a history in engineering he was trained at Scotlands Royal Conservatoire in technical production which included lighting design and a specialisation in television studies resulting in additional acalides being awarded. After a brief stint on the London rock and roll live event touring scene, he then returned to Glasgow with his new found knowledge and continued in the live event realms, workingin a range of both venues and temporary stages, with everyone from Snowpatrol to Bill Bailey, Belinda Carlisle to Nickleback. Having established himself on the free lance circuit he was invited to work with numerous companies, that were usually based in Scotland, offered jobs that varied from putting on events with the calibre of artist such as Steve Martin and Joan Collins and attending such as Royal Asscot through to Paul Oakenfold at the Glasgow Arches. Ultimately it was only a matter of time before he found himself in the only undiscovered genre of the business. In 2003 he was invited to work with an international television company called VFG. There he continued to develop his skills by working on productions both large and small with large scale commercials to long running dramas and comedy series on the way. With such a wide range of experience behind him, Niall felt he brought a unique set of skills to the Scottish sector of the industry merging live event desk operation with lighting design concepts, crossed over with TV best boy experience and gaffering techniques, so he started his own company. He felt he would be able to take his skills and apply them to the overall concept of the production and as such be able to identify and thus deliver a superior service to his clients. Niall now has a small team at Tele Scot that follow his commitment for seeking to attain the most satisfactory outcomes with the resources available to help bring the directors vision to the production.
